Summer 2013 - June 29 to July 7 - Barrier Islands, VA and Annapolis, MD

On June 29th, we traveled to the Barrier Islands off the coast of Virginia. Near Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach this area is part Virginia and part Maryland. Below are photos of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel from Hampton, VA to the Barrier Islands. There is a bridge, then a tunnel then a bridge, then a tunnel and it ends in a bridge.

On the same day we ventured into Annapolis, MD. There are so many things to see here. Watching the sailboats was one of my favorites.

The Annapolis Naval School was founded in 1845 and became the US Naval Academy in 1850. It is located in downtown Annapolis, MD where the Severn River flows into the Chesapeake Bay. It is a beautiful campus.
